Preparing for your newborn session
I prefer to photograph newborns when they are less than 10 days old while they are still bendy and sleepy. If you are expecting during the busy holidays, try and leave an approximate due date with me so I can leave a little room on my calendar for you.
A newborn session can take anywhere from 1 to 3 hours, depending on how well the baby sleeps. I provide a room full of hats, baskets, blankets, antique props and everything we will need to photograph your baby. Feel free to bring anything that is special to you that you might want included in the session (wedding rings for little toes and items from baby's room).
Don't be surprised if something (or someone) gets peed on (or worse). It happens all the time and I am ready for it and will just throw everything in the laundry. No big deal. My style is to keep them naked for most of the shoot so I will have a little heater on to keep them warm. This means we may be a little warm as well so dress accordingly. (but trust me...they LOVE the warm room and sound of the heater)
Older siblings can be in one or two shots in the beginning of the session. Please have someone who can take them home afterwards as older siblings are not allowed to stay for the newborn session. The studio is quite small and can get crowded quickly...please bring only those who will be photographed or who are there to help with the baby.
******Cameras and other recording devices are NOT permitted in the studio. ***Studio tours before the session are NOT allowed. Almost all of my props are featured in the newborn gallery images to give you ideas and I can give you ideas over the phone.
